ABOUT WELLSTAR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

WellStar is a not-for-profit healthcare system based in Georgia. Among multiple facilities in the state, WellStar operates four hospitals that provide emergency psychiatric services, namely the WellStar Cobb, Douglas, Kennestone, and Paulding hospitals. At the address given above, 20 miles northwest of Atlanta, is WellStar Cobb Hospital, home to the main behavioral health facility in the WellStar network. The facility provides a full spectrum of treatment for addiction and mental-health disorders, from medical detox through inpatient care and outpatient programs. This facility is one of 28 hospital-based inpatient facilities for addiction in the State of Georgia.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

At Cobb, Douglas, Kennestone, and Paulding hospitals, people struggling with mental-health and addiction emergencies will find assessment services, referrals to further treatment, and an opportunity to talk through their problems and treatment options.

For clients admitted to longer-term treatment at Cobb Hospital, treatment begins with a comprehensive psychosocial evaluation, which lasts between one and six hours depending on the kind of tests needed. The detox and inpatient programs are intended as short-term measures only. Both programs include 24-hour monitoring, medication stabilization and management, and therapy in individual, group, and family settings, as well as education and planning for discharge and continuing care.

A spectrum of outpatient programs is provided: there's a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and general outpatient care. At the most intensive level, clients attend four hours of treatment, five days a week. The least intensive treatment involves attending weekly outpatient counseling groups.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The team is multidisciplinary, including psychiatrists as well as clinicians and nurses. The single individual polled by Rehabs.com to date gave WellStar three out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

WellStar's website doesn't provide any information about the living conditions on its behavioral health campus, except to note that recreational therapy is provided. The single individual polled by Rehabs.com to date gave WellStar four stars for its accommodations, meals and nutrition, and cleanliness.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Rehabs.com hasn't yet polled any alumni of WellStar's behavioral health campus, but the center has mixed reviews on secondary sites, with a 2.4-star average rating based on five reviews left on Google.[1] The complaints were varied, citing poor communication with loved ones, a misdiagnosis, and bad attitudes from the staff. However, the two positive reviewers had very positive experiences of the staff: alum C.S. described them as "good and nurturing," and Gavin added: "This Hospital had the most loving and caring staff I've ever seen."

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The single loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date gave WellStar mostly positive feedback, writing: "Excellent one on one... Treatment was successful so far," though they added that group counseling was less impressive. They gave the network four stars for its holistic offerings and family participation and three stars for its counseling options and ability to treat co-occurring disorders.

FINANCING

WellStar is one of around 33 percent of facilities in Georgia that accepts Medicare, and one of around 52 percent that accepts Medicaid. In addition, the physicians at the behavioral health center on the Cobb Campus are in-network with many of the major insurance carriers.

[1] GoogleReviews
