ABOUT ADAPTIVE CENTER

Located in the Coral Way neighborhood, five miles southwest of downtown Miami, Adaptive Center offers intensive outpatient programs (IOP) at a variety of intensities, including a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders. Optional supportive housing facilities are available nearby for clients while they take part in the facility's PHP.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Adaptive Center prides itself on offering both the freedom of normal life and 24-hour professional support for those struggling with substance abuse. Residents of the supportive housing are free to work, go to school, visit family, eat out, go to the gym, shop, and go to the movies.

The partial hospitalization program (PHP) meets Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday mornings. The intensive outpatient program (IOP) is more flexible, aiming to offer "the exact amount of therapy, and support" that clients need. Supportive housing is available only for those enrolled in the PHP. The IOP tracks offers flexible schedules, with programming in the daytime or the evening. There are never more than 12 clients in a course at any one time.

The facility uses a range of evidence-based therapies, such as mindful cognitive therapy and Gestalt therapy, and newer, more experimental therapies, such as Morita therapy, which encourages clients to take action; life rhythm therapy, which helps them to establish a daily routine; and narrative therapy, in which they establish the narrative of their own addiction. In addition, all clients complete a daily exercise program of aerobic and weight training,

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The program director is a licensed mental health counselor, a certified addictions professional, a certified traumatologist, and a certified sex therapist. The center also employs several master's level therapists, and a psychiatrist, who serves as medical director. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility five out of five stars for the level of support received from its staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Residents may keep their computer, phone, or tablet during treatment. The supportive housing facility โ€” a family-style home โ€” is located a block from the treatment facility, and features 24-hour security, a deck with a grill, a sitting room with a TV, a full kitchen, and shared bedrooms. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility five stars for its overall cleanliness and its exercise and leisure offerings.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave positive feedback: "I never thought that I could get passed my drinking problem because I kept failing and relapsing after attending addiction treatment," D.A. wrote, describing how at Adaptive Center they met a staff member who "really helped me.
