ABOUT FAITH FARM MINISTRIES – BOYNTON BEACH

Faith Farm’s campus in Boynton Beach, Fla. is one of Faith Farm Ministries’ four addiction treatment centers. Like its other locations, the Boynton Beach campus provides faith-based, residential addiction treatment for adults. These services are offered free of charge in exchange for labor. The facility is one of 146 (20.4 percent) in the state that provides extended residential care to adults struggling with substance abuse. On-site detoxification is not available.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Faith Farm is a faith-based recovery program centered on Christian teachings. According to the facility’s website, the goal is to “minister to hurting people by helping them rebuild their lives in accordance with the Word of God.” Attendance to daily chapel services and weekly church services is mandatory.

Participants are expected to stay with Faith Farm for a minimum of nine months, during which time they undergo counseling, life skills training, mandatory work training, addiction education, and GED test preparation if applicable.

According to the facility’s website, daily classes include teachings on “causes of addiction, setting healthy boundaries, respect for authority, anger management and personal integrity.” Clients will also participate in the Comprehensive Work Training (CWT) program to learn trade skills and help fund the cost of the facility.

Clients who complete the recovery curriculum can choose to take a test, which, if passed, grants up to nine college credits from South Florida Bible College and Theological Seminary (SFBC).

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Faith Farm's small staff includes a master’s-level program director with a background in psychology and chemical dependency counseling. The facility’s website reports that many staff members have themselves successfully graduated from the program. To date, the four individuals polled by Rehabs.com on the matter gave extremely high ratings for the center's staff.

Staff Experience and Training: 4.5/5

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Located on a 90-acre property in suburban Florida, the Boynton Beach campus includes a church, dining hall, and the three businesses where clients complete their CWT. Dormitories provide 445 beds for clients. According to its website, Faith Farm provides the basics in accommodations: housing, food, and clothing. Despite the absence of amenities, the five individuals polled by Rehabs.com regarding Faith Farm’s accommodations submitted positive feedback.

Facility Cleanliness and Upkeep: 4.5/5

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At the time of this writing, the nine alumni polled by Rehabs.com gave the facility positive reviews. Nearly all of these individuals praised the facility's cleanliness, though some alumni offered lower ratings for counseling options. Former client C.R. awarded five out of five stars for overall treatment effectiveness, and listed, "Educational Materials, Clinical/Support Staff care and concern," as facility strengths.

Reviews also reveal that most alumni appreciated the free cost of the facility and the faith-centered programming. "It was free, had classes daily that helped correct my thinking, and kept me away from alcohol while I was there so was able to start thinking more clearly," P.D. wrote in a representative review.

The only area in which alumni expressed differing viewpoints seemed to be about the facility's effectiveness in treating co-occurring mental health disorders. While one respondent strongly agreed that the center was equipped in this treatment area, another disagreed, and specifically remarked, "No mental health program." Others felt the facility took advantage of clients through its work-therapy program, while some alumni were critical of the food and accommodations.

On its Google page, Faith Farm Ministries earned a 4.2-star average rating from 342 users to date.[1] However, the majority of the written comments touch upon the thrift stores operated by Faith Farms, rather than the rehabilitation program.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At the time of this writing, the eight friends and family members polled by Rehabs.com, who gave the facility mostly positive reviews. Much like alumni feedback, loved ones appreciated the faith-based principles, with one individual citing "God focused" as the facility's major strength. "Faith Farm is a totally FREE program. There are tbere to help those who have no where else to turn and who really truly want to have a better life," a parent commented in a representative review.

For the most part, loved ones also awarded high-to-perfect ratings for the level of family participation and the fairness of the visitor policy at this center. A similar concern with the lack of ability to treat co-occurring disorders was noted by a loved one who reported that the facility "Did not encourage him to deal with his BiPolar Condition."

WHAT STAFF SAY

The two staff member polled by Rehabs.com to date provided polarizing opinions of the facility. One employee offered five out of five stars for staff training protocols, respect for protocols, loyalty to clients, and fairness of pricing. "Faith-based Christian program that teaches renewal and regeneration, not just rehab," the employee wrote. However, another employee wrote: "This is not a treatment center in any way," adding: "They throw them a Bible and tell them to go to work." Echoing some other survey respondent comments, the employee felt the program's strict rules lacked compassion.

FINANCING

Treatment at Faith Farm is offered free of charge, in exchange for labor at one of its three social-purpose businesses: a thrift store, a full-size auto mechanics garage, and a community recycling center.

[1] GoogleReviews
