<p><strong>ABOUT THOMAS MURPHY CENTER INTERMEDIATE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM</strong></p> <p>Located in Willimantic, Conn., Thomas Murphy Center Intermediate Residential Treatment Program is one of three residential treatment programs offered by Community Health Resources (CHR), a regional treatment provider. CHR offers a comprehensive array of treatment services for individuals struggling with substance abuse, mental illness, and co-occurring disorders. The Thomas Murphy Center offers <strong>residential treatment for adults transitioning back into the community after primary treatment</strong>. The facility does not provide detoxification services on-site. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Before admission, clients undergo an initial assessment to ensure the transitional program is an appropriate level of care. Residents can stay for <strong>up to 180 days</strong>. To assist individuals in their recovery after primary treatment, the facility provides a structured environment where clients reside while they <strong>continue their recovery and prepare to reintegrate back into the community</strong>. Individuals involved in the criminal justice system, as well as <strong>clients on methadone maintenance</strong> are accepted. </p> <p>According to the facility's website, the Thomas Murphy Center <strong>focuses on employment and education</strong> during the day and substance abuse treatment in the evening. During the transitional program, clients adhere to<strong>individualized treatment</strong> plan, which includes individual counseling, family counseling, educational classes, and group counseling. </p> <p>According to the facility's website, clients also participate in support groups, which may include <strong>12-step immersion</strong>. A <a href="https://www.treatment-innovations.org/seeking-safety.html" target="_blank">Seeking Safety</a> curriculum is also integrating into programming for individuals with trauma-related concerns. However, the one alum surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing, who also currently serves as an employee, gave the facility four out of five stars for its staff support.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>The facility has capacity of <strong>14 beds</strong>. There is currently no additional information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. However, alum Brian gave the treatment center a four-star rating for its accommodations and amenities.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The one alum polled by Rehabs.com to date, Brian, also transitioned into an employee once he successfully completed the residential program. Brian offered perfect five-star ratings for the counselor's availability, the staff's level of training and experience, and the respect shown for the client's treatment preferences. "Caring, experienced, certified staff," Brian wrote. </p> <p>Currently serving as a counselor, he also offered four-star ratings for the facility's executive management, in regards to both client privacy and staff training. However, Brian did give a two-star rating for the inclusion of holistic activities and noted a lack of therapeutic recreation. "Could use more outside activities," he added..</p> <p>Secondary sources revealed mixed opinions of the facility. On Citeheath, out of five stars, two individuals gave the facility ratings of one star and three stars, respectively<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small>. One anonymous alum wrote: "Offer no family counselings and the same redundant literature each week." However, the other alum disagreed, writing: "Staff is awesome over there, and anyone trying to be serious about getting real recovery this place is an absolute blessing."</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to its website, Thomas Murphy Center accepts Medicaid, HUSKY Part A &amp; Part B, Medicare and most major health insurances as partial or full payment for services.
