<p><strong>ABOUT EVOLVE TREATMENT CENTERS TOPANGA</strong></p> <p>Located in Topanga, Calif., Evolve Treatment Centers offers <strong>residential and detox services to teens 12 to 17 years old who are struggling with substance abuse, <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/">co-occurring disorders</a>, or mental health disorders.</strong> </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong><br /> According to the facility's website, there are three important <strong>elements to detox -- evaluation, stabilization, and preparation.</strong> The evaluation stage includes testing for drugs along with psychological and physical disorders. </p> <p>During the stabilization phase, the treatment team ensures the mental and physical health of the individual during withdrawal period. And, preparation is designed to stress the importance of pursuing a treatment program after detox. </p> <p>During admissions, the treatment team conducts an assessment on each client. The assessment is used to create <strong>an individualized recovery plan. Plans usually include individual and group therapy.</strong></p> <p>Evolve Treatment Centers utilizes a multiple different therapies such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-Based Dialectical/Cognitive Therapy (MBD/CT). </p> <p>The facility also <strong>teaches the 12-Steps, and offers family therapy and support groups for loved ones.</strong> </p> <p>Teens also participate in innovative <strong>experiential therapies including equine-assisted therapy, social outings, surfing, music, art, dance, boxing, hiking, and physical fitness.</strong> </p> <p>During treatment, teens continue schooling with the education staff at Evolve Treatment Centers. Before leaving treatment, the center's staff creates an <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/">aftercare plan</a> for each client.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong><br /> The center's website indicates the treatment team includes counselors, therapists, psychiatrist, and nurses. </p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong><br /> According to the facility's website, the center looks and feels like a home, and there are never more than six teens at a time. </p> <p>Accommodations include five acres of grounds and ponds, a full-size pool, TV room, school area with computers, on-site Equine Therapy program, on-site chef, modern horse corral and riding area, tennis and basketball court, and a gym. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong><br /> The one alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided a mixed review. They gave two out of five stars for treatment effectiveness and accommodations and amenities. </p> <p>While the alum praised the center's staff, they had a problem with programming. "Most staff were kind," they wrote.. "They hardly had any groups about depression and anxiety, and no groups about eating disorders."</p> <p>The alum also complained about having no privacy, and noted they wouldn't recommend the facility. </p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong><br /> The one staff member surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided very positive feedback. They gave five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness, accommodations and amenities, and meals and nutrition. </p> <p>"Evolve has a strong, knowledgeable, talented and diverse clinical team to meet the needs of a variety of clients," they wrote.
