<p><strong>ABOUT GOOD SAMARITAN SHELTER PROJECT P.R.E.M.I.E.</strong></p> <p>A program of the Good Samaritan Shelter in Santa Monica, California, Project P.R.E.M.I.E. (<strong>P</strong>erinatal <strong>R</strong>ecovery <strong>E</strong>ffort through <strong>M</strong>aternal <strong>I</strong>ntervention and <strong>E</strong>ducation) offers <strong>outpatient treatment</strong> to <strong>pregnant and/or parenting women</strong> struggling with substance use disorder and <a href="https://recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>. P.R.E.M.I.E. also offers residential treatment via its <strong>transitional living center</strong>.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>At its core, the day program at Project P.R.E.M.I.E. <strong>educates women</strong> who are recovering from substance use disorder. As such, programming fosters <strong>positive parenting techniques</strong> and addresses issues such as <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/how-understanding-anger-revolutionizes-addiction-recovery/" target="_blank">anger management</a>, <strong>self-esteem</strong>, dual diagnosis, and domestic violence. Project P.R.E.M.I.E. is one of 440 non-hospital-based substance abuse treatment programs in California (<a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA17.pdf" target="_blank">34 percent</a>) to offer a residential treatment that lasts longer than 30 days.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Although there is no information available regarding staff credentials, <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/report_3059/ShortReport-3059.pdf" target="_blank">98 percent</a> of substance abuse treatment facilities in California have continuing education requirements for staff.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>Project P.R.E.M.I.E.'s transitional living center is one of only 63 substance abuse treatment facilities in California (just <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA17.pdf" target="_blank">five percent</a>) to provide residential beds for clients' children. According to the facility's website, the center can house up to <strong>20 women and children</strong> at one time. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>E.D., the one alum polled by Rehabs.com to date, gave Project P.R.E.M.I.E. mostly positive feedback. She awarded the facility four or five out of five stars for its counseling options, its exercise and leisure activities, its connectivity, and its 12-step focus. "I stayed for six months with my nine month old son they had great children programs and great parenting classes," she wrote.</p> <p>On Google<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small>, the Good Samaritan Shelter as a whole earned an average rating of <strong>4.1 out of five stars</strong> based on 42 reviews. In a representative review, Liz wrote: "Food, showers, warm bed, a decent BREAK from the cold.
