Services & Treatment

Editorial Review

ABOUT BUTTE COUNTY - PARADISE ADULT SERVICES

Located in the Sierra Nevada foothills in the northern California town of Paradise, Butte County’s Paradise Adult Services provides outpatient treatment for adults struggling with substance use disorder. It's one of 110 country-run substance abuse treatment facilities in California, which make up just eight percent of all substance abuse treatment facilities in the state. Paradise Adult Services also treats clients with co-occurring disorders.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

All clients receive a comprehensive assessment upon admission, which may include psychiatric/mental health evaluation and diagnosis (a service offered by 37 percent of all California substance abuse treatment facilities).

Outpatient treatment is individualized and designed for clients ages 18 and older. It includes limited individual counseling, group therapy, and medication management, as well as community services referral. Bilingual counseling and interpreter services are also offered, an extra available in a little more than half (55 percent) of the state's substance abuse treatment facilities.

There is also a Support, Employment, Assistance, Recovery, Consumer Housing program (a.k.a. SEARCH) that provides intensive services to individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to a severe and persistent mental illness.

The Wellness and Recovery Centers (WRC), which is located less than two miles from the Paradise’s outpatient center, provides key therapeutic activities including life skill groups, employment services, and medication support. These centers are open to all community members, and there is an on-site clinician to help consumers run their own groups and provide limited mental health support.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team at Paradise Services includes psychiatrists, licensed therapists, psychiatric technicians, counselors, and support staff.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The sole alum polled by Rehabs.com to date, who participated anonymously, gave the TLC mediocre feedback. While they did note that the programs helped facilitate good dialogue, they described the facility as "average" overall. "Too much religious garbage," they added.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The two loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date, a 26-to-39-year-old female and a male over the age of 60, gave TLC mixed feedback. While both awarded the facility five out of five stars for its cleanliness and described the facility as neat and organized, they also both reported that their loved ones relapsed after treatment. "Not enough for them to do and the counseling was weak," one wrote in a representative review.

FINANCING

There is currently no information provided on the facility's website regarding its costs. The two loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility three out of five stars and five out of five stars respectively for its affordability.
