Editorial Review

ABOUT TRI COUNTY RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT FACILITY

Located in Butte County in Oroville, Calif., the Tri County Residential Treatment Facility operates gender-specific addiction rehab programs for adult men and women. The long-term, licensed programs guide adults from detox to aftercare in a highly structured environment.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment programs at the facility help clients rebuild their lives from within a structured living environment. In treatment that ranges from 14 to 90 days (or longer) for men and 30 to 45 days for women, clients receive one-on-one counseling sessions, “group interaction,” and 12-step based support groups. Medical, psychological, and religious services are also available. All program graduates have access to the facility’s ongoing aftercare sessions.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff. However, three individuals polled by Rehabs.com rated the training and experience of the staff as follows: one gave three out of five stars, one gave two stars, and another gave only one star.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its accommodations and related offerings. Based on a Rehabs.com survey of three individuals, however, one alumni gave the facility’s accommodations & amenities five out of five stars while two other respondents gave three stars. Two of the survey respondents gave three stars for meals & nutrition while the third gave only two stars.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At the time of this writing, there have been two alumni polled by Rehabs.com. Both alumni provided mixed reviews on the facility. C.M., who’s between the ages of 26 and 39, was court ordered to enter rehab for treatment of substance abuse. The alum chose this particular facility because she had known others who had gone to treatment there. C.M. stayed for 30 to 60 days and completed the treatment successfully; she did not enter sober living after leaving the facility. C.M. agreed that the treatment was worth the cost adding that she has remained sober and no longer has a desire to use substances.

C.M. gave the facility four out of five stars for accommodations & amenities, and three stars for meals & nutrition. The alum gave perfect five-star ratings for a few metrics of the facility including for the cleanliness of the facility, staff support, and counselor training/experience. On the other hand, she gave only one star for the facility’s holistic offerings and two stars for the facility’s exercise options. Overall, C.M. gave five stars for treatment effectiveness. The alum added additional commentary stating, “i learned a lot about myself and made me understand what happens to the brain when i use and possiblitys of why people use.”

Another alum, S.B., gave the facility a lower rating of three out of five stars for treatment effectiveness as well as accommodations & amenities, and two stars for meals & nutrition. She agreed that the facility strictly followed a 12-step model but also indicated that were not many counseling options to choose from depending on the client’s preference. She also responded that the facility was not adequately equipped and staffed to treat co-occurring mental health problems in addition to substance use disorders. Despite the negative review, S.B. felt that a strength of the facility was that the staff were loving and compassionate. Overall, S.B. responded that she would not recommend this facility to a friend or loved one who was considering rehab.

On Google, the two reviewers to date both left four stars.[1] One of the users commented, "Good people friendly atmosphere."

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At the time of this writing, the sole love one to provide feedback to Rehabs.com gave mostly negative feedback regarding the facility. The anonymous reviewer rated the facility four out of five stars for treatment effectiveness, three stars for accommodations & amenities, and three stars for meals & nutrition. She strongly disagreed when asked if the facility staff were experienced and well-trained and if the facility was adequately equipped and staffed to treat co-occurring mental health problems in addition to substance use disorders.

The loved one did not feel that treatment and services offered at the facility were worth the cost. However, she was neutral regarding the ability of family and loved ones to participate in treatment through facility programming. She felt that the only positive aspect of the program was that participants get a certificate for court but every other aspect of the treatment was negative. Overall, she would not recommend this facility to another friend or loved one who was considering rehab.

FINANCING

The Tri County Residential Facility accepts private pay and receives funding from various local sources. According to its CiteHealth page, Access to Recovery (ATR) Vouchers are also accepted.

[1] https://goo.gl/KrY2BJ
