<p><strong>ABOUT PROGRESS HOUSE, INC. NEVADA CITY MEN’S RESIDENTIAL FACILITY</strong></p> <p>In Northern California’s gold rush region near the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Progress House operates 11 drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers. The Nevada City facility offers a <strong>19-bed 24/7 residential program for adult men (18+)</strong> seeking treatment for substance abuse. It is one of the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA17.pdf" target="_blank">686 facilities in California</a> that offer programs specifically for men. </p> <p>The program is based on the <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/did-aa-save-my-life/" target="_blank">12-Step principles</a> and uses a variety of counseling modalities to address problem behaviors. Detox services are not available on-site, but are offered at another Progress site.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Treatment at Progress House, Inc. Nevada City Men’s Residential Facility begins with a comprehensive assessment to determine the best level and place for care. Many clients begin their treatment process in one of Progress House, Inc.’s detox programs. Only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA17.pdf" target="_blank">15 percent of treatment facilities in California</a> offer detox programs. The program lasts up to 20 days and provides medically-managed treatment for a variety of substance abuse cases. </p> <p>During detox, clients work with medical specialists and certified counselors to complete the detox process. The length of stay varies based on the assessment by the counselor. Once a detox program is completed, clients are transferred to the appropriate treatment facility and programs based on the developed treatment plan. The closest detox facility has 6 beds and is staffed 24/7 by medical personnel that use a <strong>holistic approach</strong> to detox including nutrition, physical, and psychological treatment. </p> <p>The Nevada City Facility uses a <a href="https://www.socialworkers.org/practice/behavioral_health/0206snapshot.asp" target="_blank">Recovery Model</a> program based on the <strong>disease model of addiction</strong> . Clients are given support as they focus on <strong>applying their strengths</strong> to their recovery process and correcting problem behaviors in a disease-focused way. As a result, the facility takes a <strong>holistic treatment approach involving education, counseling, life skills training, and self-help practices</strong> in a serene and rural environment. </p> <p>Residents participate in <strong>process groups, addiction education, family counseling</strong>, and individual therapy sessions. They are encouraged to incorporate a <strong>12-Step process</strong>, as well. The 12-Steps model is used in up to <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/cbhsq-reports/2017_NSSATS.pdf" target="_blank">73 percent of treatment facilities across the country</a>, and serves as a good short term and long-term recovery method. </p> <p>Clients that complete the residential program also receive <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare</a> planning and group services. Alumni and aftercare groups are available for clients in the local areas. Clients outside of the area are referred to local groups that can help them continue their sober living efforts. These groups focus on maintaining sober living and coping skills to avoid relapses. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Progress House, Inc, is staffed by Certified Substance Abuse and Rehabilitation Counselors, and detox services are overseen by qualified medical staff. The facility is staffed around-the-clock with medical personnel. Clients may also work with peer support staff members who are in recovery and completed treatment programs. In reviews written by alumni, loved ones, and employees, the staff nearly universally received praise for their dedication and empathy.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>The tiny town of Nevada City is home to just over 3,000 residents and sits at an elevation of around 2,500 feet. Progress House, Inc.’s residential facility is in an <strong>early twentieth-century farmhouse</strong>. Photographs on the center’s website show a communal dining area and shared bedrooms. There is also access to communal amenities including activity areas and swimming facilities. Medical facilities and services are available 24/7 to address client’s needs.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>To date, two alumni submitted feedback to Rehabs.com. One alum gave a mixed review, providing positive feedback for the “staff” and negative feedback about “the classes.” The other alum gave five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness and available counseling options.
