<p><strong>ABOUT FIRST TO SERVE, INC OUTREACH MINISTRIES</strong></p> <p>First to Serve, Inc. has over 10 years of experience helping men and women in Los Angeles, Calif. and the surrounding area seeking treatment for mental health and behavioral health disorders including substance abuse. The rehab center offers <strong>residential care to men, women, as well as women with children</strong>, and assists with <strong>permanent and transitional housing</strong>. It is one of the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA17.pdf" target="_blank">699 private, non-profit treatment facilities in California</a>, and has specialized tracks for adults seeking treatment for substance abuse, domestic violence, and homelessness. Detox is not available onsite.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Clients gain access to one of First to Serve, Inc.’s programs through self-admittance or a referral. First to Serve is <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA17.pdf" target="_blank">one of California’s 440 long-term, non-hospital treatment programs</a>. Clients that enter the residential treatment program for substance abuse <strong>must commit to six months of treatment</strong>, and clients in transitional living must participate in <strong>at least six months of a life skills program</strong>.</p> <p>The treatment methods used by the facility focus on treating the whole person simultaneously rather than focusing on individual aspects of addiction. The program uses the <strong>12-step</strong> method, which is used in <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/cbhsq-reports/2017_NSSATS.pdf" target="_blank">73 percent of treatment facilities across the country</a>. Clients also participate in <strong>individual, group, and family therapy</strong>. </p> <p>In addition, clients also participate in <strong>educational and special focus groups</strong> to address specific concerns. Along with anger management, educational classes also address topics such as financial literacy, life skill development, and <strong>job training services</strong>. Vocational training is available at <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/cbhsq-reports/2017_NSSATS.pdf" target="_blank">38.6 percent of all U.S. treatment facilities</a>.</p> <p>First to Serve, Inc. also manages the <strong>Winter Shelter Program</strong>, which offers 310-beds throughout the entire cold season and provides shelter, showers, meals, supplies, and transportation services to homeless clients. This makes First to Serve one of the larger facilities in the <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/cbhsq-reports/2017_NSSATS.pdf" target="_blank">U.S. while the program is open</a>.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The facility is run by a team of religious and community activists, volunteers, and business partners who contribute to the organization's operations. The same reviewer indicated that treatment was affordable but wrote: “First to Serve is a very strict rehab program,” adding: “First to Serve is one of the best out there. They helped me get my life back.” The alum gave three out of five stars for most other categories, including exercise and leisure opportunities, holistic offerings, counseling options, and facility cleanliness.</p> <p>On Google, First To Serve Inc earned an average rating of 1.9 out of five stars from 16 reviews to date.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Most of the reviews provided extremely <strong>negative feedback</strong> about the facility’s leadership team, “very mean and rude” staff, and the stressful program.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to <a href="http://citehealth.com/rehab-centers/california/cities/los-angeles/first-to-serve-inc" target="_blank">CiteHealth</a>, <strong>private insurance is accepted</strong>. Serves are also available for clients who are homeless and unable to pay, making First to Serve one of the 611 facilities in California to <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA17.pdf" target="_blank">provide treatment at no cost</a>.</p> <p><strong>CONCLUSION</strong></p> <p>First to Serve <a href="https://lasentinel.net/rick-reeds-first-to-serve-answers-call-for-south-l-a-s-underserved.html" target="_blank">partners with many facilities</a> in the area to provide services for an underserved population. In recent months, L.A. is looking to change how it handles housing resources.
