ABOUT EVOLVE TREATMENT CENTERS LOS ANGELES

With six locations throughout Southern California, Evolve Treatment Centers provide residential and outpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment to adolescents 12 to 17 years old. Set right off I-405 in Los Angeles, the Bel Air/Brentwood facility offers outpatient treatment for young clients. Medical detoxification is not offered on-site, however the facility can help refer clients to a specialist hospital or detox facility if necessary.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

All clients receive an initial assessment upon admission to determine the most appropriate level of care. The facility offers three different levels of program intensity: a partial hospitalization program (PHP), which includes five hours a treatment five days a week; an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which consists of three hours of treatment, three to five days a week; and a general outpatient program (OP) which includes one to two hours of treatment once or twice weekly.

Treatment is individualized and utilizes evidence-based modalities including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). In addition to group therapy, outpatient offerings include family therapy and parent support groups.

The facility also engages young clients in a number of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) techniques such as yoga, meditation, and experiential activities like music and art therapy, dance, hiking, and fitness. Teens are also treated to regular social and cultural outings.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, the Bel Air/Brentwood treatment team includes a psychiatrist and two clinical psychologists, along with a licensed marriage and family therapist, and a marriage and family therapy intern.

The office treats a maximum of ten teenagers at a time, offering a staff-to-client ratio of 1:3.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Images on the facility’s website show an attractive, fully renovated office with modern furnishings and artwork. Surrounded by beautiful landscaping that features bright rose bushes, the 5,000 square-foot facility offers a calm and serene environment, and according to the website, features views of the Getty Museum and the Santa Monica Hills.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The two former clients surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave Evolve mixed reviews. One anonymous respondent noted that the organization's swift growth had compromised the quality of its treatment services. However the other reviewer, J.K, gave the facility five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness and praised the facility for its compassionate staff, its solid treatment modalities, its focus on the disease concept of addiction, and its inclusion of recreational activities.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

M.B., the one loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date, also praised the facility, giving it five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness and describing it as “the best clinical program in SoCa.” The parent credited the facility with saving their daughter’s life.

WHAT STAFF SAY

While Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, affiliated friends or family members, or staff, three staff members from the Bel Air/Brentwood facility offered mixed reviews on Indeed.[1]

One current staffer, who noted that they have been in the recovery industry for 17 years, gave the facility a rating of five out of five stars and described Evolve as “one of the most ethical companies I have worked for.” The reviewer attributed the facility’s success to a number of factors, chief among them being their “expertise in DBT and the therapists extremely small caseload.”

The other two staffers offered negative feedback. Both gave the facility ratings of just one out of five stars, and one described the office as disorganized and chaotic. Both claimed that the company’s main concern was making a profit. “They don't screen clients properly and will take anyone that can pay, and in some cases don't properly train staff to deal with the clients they are bringing in,” said one of the two respondents in a representative negative review.

FINANCING

According to the facility’s website, Evolve is in network with Anthem Blue Cross and Healthnet, and works out of network with many private insurance companies, including Aetna, Amerihealth, United Healthcare, and Humana.

[1] https://www.indeed.com/cmp/Evolve-Treatment-Center/reviews
