<p><strong>ABOUT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ALCOHOL AND DRUG PROGRAMS, INC., (SCADP)</strong></p> <p>The Southern California Alcohol and Drug Programs, Inc. (SCADP provides prevention and treatment services for substance use disorder. Services are focused on serving <strong>underserved and disadvantaged populations,</strong> such as individuals experiencing homelessness, pregnant and parenting women, persons of color, those living with HIV/AIDS, individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing, those involved in criminal activity or the criminal justice system, and high-risk youth. <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA16.pdf" target="_blank">Only 27.8% of California’s facilities</a> provide treatment for pregnant or postpartum women. </p> <p>Founded in 1972 and headquartered in Downey, just south of Los Angeles, the center provides <strong>residential and outpatient treatment as well as transitional living facilities</strong> in numerous locations around Southern California. The center also provides support for <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders and conditions</a> that contribute to substance abuse including homelessness, welfare dependence, criminality, HIV/AIDS, and domestic violence. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong> </p> <p>SCADP offers eight residential treatment facilities, which offer <strong>treatment lasting between six weeks and a year,</strong> depending on the program. The programs include residential programs and transitional-living facilities for <strong>battered women seeking treatment for substance use</strong>. One such center is also home to a <strong>Native American Services Program.</strong> There's also a dedicated residential center for the deaf and hard of hearing, residential centers for women with children, a bilingual residential unit for Latina women and their children, a men's HIV/AIDS center, and an "early action" center for women and children.</p> <p>Services include case management, <strong>substance abuse counseling and education</strong>, domestic violence counseling and education, treatment for co-occurring disorders, <strong>life skills training,</strong> vocational/education services, recreational and social activities, and discharge planning. The center is also incorporates <strong>12-step programming</strong>. </p> <p>The facility offers a range of specialized programs for different groups. Outpatient services include a dedicated program for the deaf and hard of hearing. Also, <strong>Medi-Cal clients receive services for free</strong>. There is a program for clients with legal requirements related to DUIs and similar offenses. For clients with children under the age of 14, SCADP is one of California’s 186 facilities (13%) that offer <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA16.pdf" target="_blank">free child care</a> while clients are in treatment. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The organization's staff includes <strong>domestic violence professionals</strong> with experience in substance use disorder. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave SCADP five out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>Across its numerous facilities, SCADP provides more than 500 residential treatment beds and outpatient care for more than 1,500 people, placing it in the <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/2016_NSSATS.pdf" target="_blank">top 3.2% of U.S. facilities</a> based on its size. At those facilities where residents can have children to stay, childcare services are provided on-site. Childcare is provided free of charge for children up to the age of 14.</p> <p>The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave SCADP five out five stars for its cleanliness, accommodations, meals, and exercise/leisure offerings — though it should be noted that conditions across the various facilities may vary.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>At the time of this writing, one alum has submitted feedback about SCADP to Rehabs.com. The feedback was positive. The alum gave the facility five out of five stars for its exercise and leisure opportunities, family participation, as well as client connectivity and visitor policy. However, the alum only gave one out of five stars for its holistic offerings.</p> <p>On Facebook, where the facility can manage its own page, SCADP earned an average of four out of five stars from 34 reviews to date.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Twenty-two of the reviews were five out of five stars. They did not agree about the quality of the staff. While one alum described a staff full of “warmth and welcome,” one staff member wrote that “Staff needs to be drug tested!”</p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>On Glassdoor, Southern California Alcohol and Drug Programs received an average of two out of five stars from nine reviews to date.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-3"><sup>[3]</sup></a></small> Most of the former and current employees wrote about a “negative culture,” with low pay, lack of advancement opportunities, and staff that “act like high schoolers gossiping.” One former staff member indicated that there were "Not enough employees per shift.”</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>SCADP receives most of its funding from county, state, and federal sources, as well as private donations <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA16.pdf" target="_blank">similar to just over half of the facilities in California</a>.
