ABOUT NEW DAWN TREATMENT CENTERS – INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM

In operation since 1987, New Dawn Treatment Center operates two intensive outpatient programs (IOP). This review focuses on the center located in Sacramento, Calif., only minutes from Highway 50. (The other facility is located in Citrus Heights, Calif.)

The CARF-accredited IOP program is designed specifically for recent graduates of either a residential or detox program or those with substance abuse issues who are not in need of detox or 24-hour care. New Dawn Treatment Center offers medically supervised detox and residential rehab programs at its other locations.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Prior to admission, prospective clients begin with a free confidential assessment, according to the center’s website. IOP combines evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with experiential opportunities and programming. Treatment is typically six to eight weeks and focuses on four main areas: coping skills, relapse prevention, the neurobiology of addiction, and patient-centered treatment planning.

Morning, afternoon, and evening sessions are offered to accommodate for anyone’s schedule. Three to five days per week, clients are engaged in three daily hours of one-on-one and group therapy sessions led by licensed addiction counselors. In addition, IOP introduces clients to 12-step based AA and/or NA meetings as well as LifeRing, an abstinence-based support services network, and SMART Recovery.

Family involvement throughout a loved one’s recovery is highly emphasized and couples counseling is also available upon request. Experiential therapies such as yoga, acupuncture, and Tai Chi make up a part of the program curriculum. Graduates have access to an alumni program and weekly aftercare groups led by licensed counselors.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The center’s website notes New Dawn Treatment Centers is led by a Ph.D. level clinical psychologist, a psychiatrist, and a physician who is also a board certified addictionologist. IOP services are conducted by licensed addiction counselors and program counselors, and holistic group specialists lead clients through yoga, acupuncture, equine therapy, and more.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

To date, the two alumni polled by Rehabs.com provided positive feedback about the Sacramento facility. They both indicated they would recommend the facility to others.

Alum D.A.W. found favor in the lifetime of aftercare support. The other alum, who chose to remain anonymous, gave the facility five out of five stars its treatment effectiveness, connectivity policies, and family participation. “I’m grateful for the care I received,” they wrote.

On Google, the sole reviewer to date gave the center five out of five stars. [1] Alum Shayne wrote: "I have been lucky enough to know that no matter how long you have clean and sober, or you don't, that they are always there. Experiencing the staff is only something you can do first hand and that's when you know you are in the right place. They guide you through the recovery process. They help give you options. They listen and do not judge. You can even go back for aftercare meetings just to keep perspective."

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At the time of this writing, the two anonymous loved ones surveyed by Rehabs.com provided positive reviews, and focused on the knowledgeable and “endlessly patient” doctors. They both gave the center four out of five stars when asked if they would recommend New Dawn Treatment Centers.

Though the pair gave four- and five-star ratings for the facility’s family participation, one reviewer wished there were “more phone calls.”

“The rigidity of the program was the main thing I disliked,” the other loved ones wrote. “Too many rules, to the point of being excessive and unnecessary, without real rhyme or reason.”

FINANCING

This facility accepts private insurances and financing options are available through programs such as "My Treatment Lender." The facility’s website recommends calling to find out more.

[1] https://goo.gl/cjKymf
