Editorial Review

ABOUT BAPTIST HEALTH BEHAVIORAL SERVICES

With numerous facilities throughout the state, Baptist Health is Arkansas’s largest nonprofit healthcare provider. Located off I-30, about 10 miles southwest of downtown Little Rock, the facility offers comprehensive psychiatric services, including treatment for substance use disorder, on both an inpatient and an outpatient basis. Addiction treatment is available to clients ages 18 and older, and includes on-site medical detox and dual diagnosis treatment.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to the facility’s website, treatment begins with a complimentary assessment to determine whether this program is the right option.

The inpatient program for substance use disorder appears to be geared toward detox and short-term care only. It involves daily group therapy combined with medication management to ease withdrawal from opiates, benzodiazepines, and/or alcohol.

Following short-term treatment and stabilization, clients may progress to an outpatient program consisting of daily group therapy, as well as individual counseling and family sessions. Flexible scheduling is available for clients who need to continue working during IOP treatment.

All alumni are welcome to attend free weekly aftercare meetings.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to Baptist Health’s website, the behavioral health department includes a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, psychotherapists, social workers, and drug and alcohol counselors.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided on the facility's website regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. The eight individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date gave Baptist Health an average rating of four out of five stars for the quality of its accommodations and amenities, and an average rating of 3.63 stars for its meals and nutrition.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The four alumni polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing all noted that they would recommend treatment at Baptist Health. The group awarded the facility average ratings of 4.25 out of five stars for its exercise and leisure activities, its treatment of co-occurring disorders, its cleanliness, and its affordability, and 4.5 stars for its family participation and its staff's level of training and experience. In their comments, alumni offered praise for the program, the counselors, and the activities, with one anonymous alum summing it up: “This is a good place to get help if you want help.”

Negative feedback was minimal. An average rating of 2.75 out of five stars was given to Baptist Health for its counseling options; one alum was unhappy with the smoking ban on-site; and in an otherwise positive review, another anonymous reviewer wrote: “Good facility but to strict, very expensive.”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Of the four loved ones polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing, two gave mostly negative feedback and indicated that they would not recommend treatment at Baptist Health. Both gave the facility three out of five stars for its cleanliness, its level of family participation, and its staff’s level of training and experience. "Some of Treatment employees were rude, impatient and inadequate from a skill perspective to help anyone," wrote one of the reviewers. And the other noted:“It didn't work. They need to come up with something that will motivate them not to drink/use.”

The other two loved ones surveyed to date gave Baptist Health more positive feedback. One awarded the facility four or five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness, its level of family participation, and its treatment of co-occurring disorders. The other gave the program five stars for its counseling options, its cleanliness, and its affordability.

FINANCING

As a network of medical hospitals, Baptist Health accepts numerous insurance policies, including but not limited to those from Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Cigna. And according to the facility’s website: “Patients without insurance who do not qualify for any third party or governmental health benefits will receive a discount of 72 percent of their billed charges.”
