It does not provide detoxification services on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon admission, clients may undergo an initial substance abuse assessment and psychiatric evaluation to help clinicians to develop an individualized treatment program. If the client requires structure and supervision to acquire and sustain sobriety and stabilization, the individual may be referred to Horizon's residential program. The length of the residential program is determined by individual needs.

To address both behavioral and mental health concerns, the Horizon Adolescent Treatment Program offers an integrated treatment approach. The facility combines a range of evidence-based treatments, experiential therapy, 12-step immersion, and intensive family counseling. During residential treatment, clients adhere to a highly-structured schedule of individual and group counseling sessions. These sessions may address mental health and/or substance abuse topics, as well as the link between chemical dependency and mental health disorders. The facility also provides ongoing medication management to alleviate the symptoms of mental health disorders.

The Horizon Adolescent Treatment Program also integrates the 12-step model of recovery into treatment. Clients may attend regular on-site and community-based 12-step meetings, study fellowship literature, and perform associated "step-work" throughout treatment. To further provide client support upon discharge, loved ones are invited to attend mandatory, intensive family counseling sessions, which are designed to facilitate open communication, address any adverse family dynamics, and educate family members on addiction and recovery.

Along with traditional treatment programming, the Horizon Adolescent Treatment Program incorporates a range of experiential therapies into residential programming. The facility's Outdoor Therapeutic Adventure Program is designed to improve decision-making and problem-solving skills through team building and trust exercises. Residents participate in a range of outdoor exercises, including camping, hiking, repelling, canoeing, fishing, and rock climbing.

The Horizon Adolescent Treatment Program also features a state-licensed school, which is staffed with state-certified teachers. Teachers coordinate with the client's home school to provide a curriculum that keeps adolescents on track with their schooling. To help clients transition back into the community, the Horizon Adolescent Treatment Program may recommend that clients "step-down" into one of Horizon's six outpatient clinics to receive ongoing treatment and support.
