ABOUT THE FATHER'S HOUSE MINISTRY

The Father's House is a non-profit organization founded by a pastor in 2006 to offer a Christian faith-based solution to alcohol and drug addiction and "other life controlling problems," as stated on the facility's website. Located in Donaldson, Ark., about an hour and a half from Little Rock, The Father’s House originally started as a men's program and has expanded to include women.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The Father's House seeks to enable and equip those struggling with substance abuse to find freedom from their addictive behaviors through Christian discipleship. Clients are referred to the facility by judges, lawyers, hot lines, police resources, hospitals, youth agencies as well as friends, family, and concerned individuals. Clients must complete an admission application, which requires medical information, employment history, legal status, and spiritual information.

According to a document on the facility's website, each resident's schedule consists of daily morning devotions, church attendance twice a week, work detail Monday through Friday, chores, and two hours per day of free time. In addition, clients may participate in Bible studies, receive spiritual counseling, attend educational classes, and participate in group discussions. The program lasts a minimum of six months.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Staff at The Father's House include two pastors, a women's program director, and a men's program director. At least one staff member is in recovery.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Photos on the website show The Father’s House main facility as a brick, ranch-style house as part of a multi-building campus. Residents are expected to keep their living space neat according to a checklist given to them. Clients may not have devices that store or play digital media, such as cameras, cell phones, tablets, and video players. There is a strict no smoking/no nicotine policy. No personal phone calls are allowed during the first 30 days; afterwards phone use must follow set guidelines. Visitors are welcome on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Although Rehabs.com has yet to receive alumni feedback, secondary sites yielded highly favorable feedback to date about The Father’s House: 4.8 out of five stars based on four Google reviews; and 4.9 stars based on 29 reviews on Facebook, which the organization may manage. [1] [2] Reviewers (alumni, loved ones, others) praised the program, the tools and inspiration provided, staff, and volunteers, all of which helped clients turn their life around.

In a representative review, Parker on Facebook wrote: "I was there 8 months and sometimes I hated it but most the time I loved it. They teach a strong work ethic while chasing God the entire time. I don’t view the fathers house as a rehab, I view them as family. Great place and great people.”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date had a highly positive impression of The Father’s House, offering perfect five-star ratings for the facility's affordability, the connectivity and visitor policies, counseling options, facility cleanliness and upkeep, family participation, likelihood to recommend, and staff experience and training.

In commentary, the loved one appreciated the facility’s "faith-based" and "hands on" approach, described as "very supportive and encouraging," but noted a lack of security. “Anyone looking for an accepting, open-minded, Christian-based rehab that will support you far beyond your time in the rehabilitation program would be a great fit for The Father’s House,” the loved one wrote.

FINANCING

The Father's House website provides no information regarding costs, however, it notes that residents who have regular income from, for example, disability and SSI, “agree to give 25% to The Father’s House to help cover the cost of my participation in the program.” Furthermore, during their stay, participants work on or off campus; their earnings are documented and a portion withdrawn to offset program costs.

[1] GoogleReviews

[2] https://www.facebook.com/pg/The-Fathers-House-168373523226439/reviews/?ref=page_internal
