<p><strong>ABOUT CODAC</strong></p> <p>The Community Organization for Drug Abuse Control (CODAC) is a non-profit organization that offers a range of substance abuse and mental health treatment programs in the Tucson, Ariz., area. About 48 percent of all treatment centers in Arizona are not for profit. The facility offers a <strong>full continuum of care for adults, adolescents, and children</strong> (ages six and up), including outpatient options, a residential substance abuse program for women, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for individuals dependent on opiates, and specialized child and family services. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>According to CODAC's website, each client undergoes an <strong>initial assessment and psychological evaluation</strong> to help determine which program and location is best.</p> <p>Las Amigas, the <strong>residential program for women,</strong> gives priority to clients who are pregnant, have recently given birth, or are actively parenting while still using alcohol and drugs. The program provides a supportive living community as well as individual counseling, <strong>group and family therapy</strong>, life skills workshops, parenting classes, relapse prevention education, and more.</p> <p>There is also <strong>an intensive outpatient (IOP) program specifically for mothers</strong> called MCAS (Mothers Caring About Self), which includes at least nine hours of treatment activities a week, as well as <strong>case management services</strong>, peer support, free diapers, use of kitchen and laundry, <strong>access to free food,</strong> and support with the Department of Child Safety (DCS) and Family Drug Court needs if necessary.</p> <p>A <strong>Medication Assisted Addiction Treatment (MAAT) program</strong> is available for both men and women who are dependent on opiates. This program utilizes Methadone or Suboxone maintenance to help with withdrawals.</p> <p>Outpatient services are also available for men, women, and adolescents ages 12 to 16. The adolescent IOP lasts 16 weeks and utilizes <a href="http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/principles-drug-addiction-treatment-research-based-guide-third-edition/evidence-based-approaches-to-drug-addiction-treatment/behavioral-3" target="_blank">The Matrix Model</a>. Outpatient treatment for adults includes individual, couples, family, and group therapy at various CODAC locations.</p> <p>Finally, CODAC offers a <strong>special LGBTQI program</strong> called Living Out Loud. This program provides a full range of health and wellness resources including counseling, primary care, and community groups, in a safe, secure, and accepting environment.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>CODAC's website notes the treatment team includes psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, and medical assistants, along with therapists, clinical social workers, professional counselors, and licensed independent substance abuse counselors.</p> <p>The two individuals surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave four- and five- out of five stars when asked about the staff's level of training and experience. </p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>While there is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings, the two people polled by Rehabs.com to date gave four- and five- out of five stars for accommodations and amenities. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The one alum surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave CODAC positive feedback, awarding the facility five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness, when asked if they would recommend the center, and family participation.
