<p><strong>ABOUT SET FREE ALASKA</strong></p> <p>Set Free Alaska is located in Palmer, Alaska, off of the East Palmer-Wasilla Highway. The facility offers <strong>outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient (IOP) programs, and <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare</a></strong> for adults, children, and adolescents seeking treatment for substance abuse and <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>. </p> <p>Specialized care is offered for <strong>trauma-related concerns</strong> as well, which are also made available to children. It is one of the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/AK16.pdf" target="_blank">relatively few facilities in Alaska</a> that offer specialized services for each age group. Set Free Alaska also offers a <strong>residential program for adult women</strong>. Women are allowed to bring children under the age of 10 to stay with them during this program, which only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/AK16.pdf" target="_blank">four facilities in the state allow</a>. <strong>Detox is not available on site</strong>. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Set Free Alaska is a <strong>faith-based (Christian) treatment program</strong> focused on the <strong>holistic</strong> path to recovery with a mind-body-spirit approach. Treatment starts with initial assessment and diagnosis. Clients begin the process by contacting the facility over the phone to speak to an intake specialist, before a team conducts a more thorough evaluation onsite to develop a <strong>comprehensive treatment program</strong>. </p> <p>For adults, outpatient and intensive outpatient program (IOP) options are available. Clients participate in <strong>individual and group counseling sessions</strong> designed to help them uncover and address the underlying factors of their addiction. Clients who are unable to travel to the facility on a regular basis can take advantage of the <strong>Tele-Health therapy options</strong>. In Alaska, only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/AK16.pdf" target="_blank">29.8% of facilities</a> offer online or computerized treatment options. Substance abuse education is also an important part of the treatment process, which is also available through the facility's Tele-Health system.</p> <p>Set Free Alaska is one of <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/AK16.pdf" target="_blank">39 facilities</a> in the state with specialized programs for women. The residential program is designed to treat women struggling with substance abuse. While in treatment, clients can bring a child up to 10-years-old with them, and Set Free Alaska offers resources to ensure the safety, comfort and development of children.</p> <p>For children and adolescents from age 5 to 17, <strong>individual and family-based therapy</strong> is used, as well as trauma-informed treatment. Prevention and early intervention programs are available. Clients also have the option to participate in Alaska Alcohol and Drug Information School (ADIS), which requires phone registration ahead of time.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Set Free Alaska employs multiple master’s-level counselors and a clinical director. There is also a team of administrative specialists with experience in administrative work and finance who help clients enroll in services. It is also a CARF-accredited facility, placing is among the <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/2016_NSSATS.pdf" target="_blank">28% of U.S. facilities</a> with this accreditation.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>Set Free Alaska has a <strong>16-bed</strong> women's residential facility, which is non-smoking. The facility also has accommodations for children ages 10 and under who accompany their mothers to treatment. Clients in the residential program have access to a team of medical and behavioral specialists 24/7.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>On Google, two reviewer both awarded five out of five-star ratings to date.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> "Great community resource! If you or someone you know suffers from a addiction problem I would highly recommend this place!" alum James wrote. </p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>To date, the sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com provided Set Free Alaska a mixed review. The anonymous reviewer wrote that they “ended up extremely disappointed” dealing with other Alaskan facilities and gave the facility just one out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness. Despite this, the anonymous loved one gave the facility five out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience, exercise and leisure provisions, the respect received from staff, and for the overall cleanliness of the facility.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>Set Free Alaska accepts private insurance plans and offers a <strong>sliding fee scale</strong> based on clients’ income. It is also one of the 62% of U.S. facilities that <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/AK16.pdf" target="_blank">accepts Medicaid</a>. To be assessed by a team of specialists at the facility, fees range from $30 to $350 based on the assessment and the client’s ability to pay. </p> <p><strong>CONCLUSION</strong></p> <p>Set Free Alaska is working to expand its offerings to help clients have a longer and more successful recovery. It recently added <a href="https://www.facebook.com/SetFreeAlaska/photos/a.652320814824331/1931342416922158/?type=3&theater" target="_blank">alumni groups</a> to its aftercare program.
