<p><strong>ABOUT BARTLETT REGIONAL HOSPITAL – RAINFOREST RECOVERY CENTER</strong></p> <p>Located in Juneau, Alaska, Rainforest Recovery Center (RRC) is a specialized unit of Bartlett Regional Hospital that provides a continuum of substance abuse treatment services to the residents of Juneau, Alaska and surrounding communities. It is <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/AK17.pdf" target="_blank">one of the 27 (30.3 percent) of Alaska treatment facilities</a> that offers residential treatment. The center also provides <strong>on-site detoxification, outpatient (OP) treatment, and <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare services.</a></strong> Additionally, RCC hosts a number of support groups for individuals who are in recovery, as well as for family members of clients and program alumni. Treatment of <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a> is available.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>According to Bartlett Regional Hospital's website, length of stay in either the residential or outpatient program varies. Clients first undergo a pyschiatric evaluation then develop an <strong>individualized treatment plan</strong> with staff.</p> <p>Level 3.5 residential treatment utilizes a <strong>dialectical behiavoral therapy (DBT)</strong> informed approach, with evidence-based treatment for substance use. Clients also <strong>develop coping skills</strong> to stabilize them for entry into lower levels of care. Following treatment, clients will receive a <strong>discharge plan</strong> and summary for use by other treatment providers if necessary.</p> <p>In level one outpatient treatment, clients one hour per week of individual and group counseling. <strong>Special treatment for opioid use</strong> is available in conjunction with counseling, random drug screens, and random medication checks. Other parts of Bartlett Regional Hospital offer <strong>emergency services and withdrawal treatment</strong>. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>According to Bartlett Regional Hospital’s website, RCC employs a number of <strong>psychiatrists who specialize in chemical dependency</strong>, nurses, master's and bachelor's level counselors, behavior health associates, case managers, and activity therapists. Two individuals polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave two out of five stars for the staff's level of training and experience. </p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>RCC can accommodate <strong>up to 16 residents at a time</strong>. Potential clients can assume, based on its <strong>hospital setting</strong>, that the center offers a clinical recovery environment. The three people polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave four-, one-, and three out of five stars for accommodations and amenities. </p> <p>Despite limited feedback, one alum suggested that bed availability did not meet the community’s needs.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The two alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date gave RCC mixed responses. The alumni differed in what categories they felt the facility performed best. One alum rated its exercise and leisure provisions five out of five stars, and the other rated the same category just two stars. Both alumni rated RCC's holistic treatment offerings with one star and its connectivity/visitor policy two stars.</p> <p>Kathryne, the more positive reviewer, found treatment effective and considerate of her mental health issues. “I suffer from anxiety so it was a very difficult choice for me to go to treatment," she wrote. "They made it very easy and with very little stress. I can't thank them enough!”</p> <p>Alum Casey, however, rated his treatment effectiveness three stars, but provided a mediocre assessment. “Only 1 in town. Had a outpatient program that was usefully. Not enough beds. This anonymous survey respondent rated RCC only one and two stars in all metrics measured and referenced multiple friends who had “come and gone” and were “still messed up.” </p> <p>“There isn't enough help in Juneau. When someone wants help they have to wait for months on end before a bed is available, the ones who can afford it will leave town,” they wrote. </p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to the hospital’s website, RCC accepts insurance and is <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/AK17.pdf" target="_blank">one of the 71 (79.8 percent) of Alaska treatment centers</a> that accepts Medicaid.
